Keep Moving Forward
“In 2016, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and given a less than 50% chance of survival. ‘Keep Moving Forward’ became my battlecry. Every hour, every day, and every new challenge was an opportunity to move forward and away from my cancer diagnosis.
“The support from my family and friends was a contstant reminder to keep moving. All over my hometown, people tied orange ribbons (the color for Leukeumia) on trees, mailboxes, front doors, stop signs, and up and down Main Street. People sent me pictures of their ribbons – there were thousands – and a friend turned it into a collage that I have in my studio. Now that I’m 4+ years away from the diagnosis, and living a healthy, cancer-free life, it reminds me just how much support I have, how important that was – and is – for healing, and to always, always Keep Moving Forward.”
